The I building is located in the University of Illinois Research Park. Built by Fox/Atkins Development, the building is currently occupied and owned by the Illinois Natural History Survey, and the Illinois State Geological Survey. The Illinois Natural History Survey conducts various research projects now under way aim to provide information about the state’s natural resources and discover solutions to environmental problems by looking at a wide range of topics that include restoration ecology and management, pest management, medical entomology, endangered and threatened species, fish and wildlife ecology, and taxonomy. The Illinois State Geological Survey, a division of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, serves the citizens and businesses of Illinois by providing accurate, objective, relevant earth science information that helps to protect the state’s environmental quality, economic vitality, and public safety.
