The Chesterbrook Academy Preschool at the Research Park recently opened its doors with a ribbon cutting ceremony on August 16, 2007.  The Chesterbrook Academy serves the Urbana/Champaign Community with a quality preschool program that is conveniently located on The University of Illinois Campus.  The new 13,000 square foot center accommodates 182 children, and is located at Oak Street and Hazelwood Drive in Champaign.  In addition to serving employees at The Research Park, the new Chesterbrook Academy preschool is conveniently located near the park-and-ride lots for University faculty and staff.

Enrollment for the new school is open to the public.  The Chesterbrook Academy serves children ages six weeks to five years of age, and also offers after school and summer programs for school-age children.  The Chesterbrook Academy utilizes the Nobel Learning Communities preschool curriculum, Links to Learning. Links to Learning is an integrated curriculum that incorporates the latest scientific research on the developing brain and provides a strong foundation for future learning.

The Department of Speech & Hearing Science moved their Speech-Language Pathology Clinic to The Research Park where it shares facilities with the Chesterbrook Academy.  The clinic serves both children and adults and provides the full range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. Individual and group therapy is provided mostly by graduate students under the supervision of an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certified Speech-Language Pathologist (CCC-SLP).  In addition to the services already provided, the new, conveniently-located, state-of-the-art site will facilitate best practice in the area of speech-language therapy for adults and children through the creation of naturalistic environments, cutting-edge technology that includes video monitoring, and a multi-sensory room for interdisciplinary study.
