I Hotel & Conference Center Press Release August 9, 2007: The new major hotel, restaurant, and conference center now under construction at the corner of First Street and St. Mary’s Road in the Research Park on the University of Illinois campus has been named. Fox/Atkins Development, LLC, developer and owner of the hotel and restaurant, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, owner of the conference center, announced the new name today, the I Hotel and Conference Center. Tabbed “the I” for short, the complex will open in August, 2008, directly south of the Assembly Hall in The Research Park at the University of Illinois.
