FDC Micro-Grant and Major Grant Program Details

Fox Development Corporation’s Micro-Grant Program and Major Grant Program make grants to small- and medium-sized (annual budgets under $1 million) local organizations working to create a better community. FDC’s Micro-Grant Program provides grants of under $5,000 and FDC’s Major Grant Program provides funding over $5,000.

Grants are awarded to non-profit organizations serving Champaign County that demonstrate clear plans for achieving clear results for their programs. Organizations must be able to demonstrate that they deliver services in a cost-effective yet professional manner.

FDC grants should serve as a catalyst to larger, longer programs by assisting the organization in leveraging additional funding immediately or over time. While the initial funding for the program or project may be solely provided by FDC, a clear plan for on-going support from other agencies, individuals, or other mechanisms must be demonstrated, as FDC grants (Micro or Major) are usually one-time grants. Organizations must have 501(c)(3) status to apply for a FDC Micro- or Major Grants.

Funding Priorities

FDC focuses its Micro-Grants and Major Grants in these categories:

  • Elementary Education Enrichment (K-5): after school or mentoring programs, educational materials or curriculum development, arts enrichment, technology expansion, etc.
  • Low Income Basic Needs: innovative programs that help to shelter, feed, or care for low-income or disadvantaged residents in the community
  • Technology Enhancement: groups seeking to increase their internal technology capacity for increased quality of service or groups seeking to bring technology to disadvantaged groups to expand their opportunities
  • Job training: programs that help to connect qualified people with available jobs, especially those that empower disadvantaged individuals or populations
  • Social Entrepreneurship: mission-linked income-generating programs that help to sustainable raise money long-term for non-profit organizations

Fox Development Corporation prefers to seed new ideas without that focus on achieving results through creative use of resources and new program models.  FDC grants should serve as a catalyst to engage a broader sector of the community in the organization’s work through increased individual support, in-kind donations, corporate involvement, fees for services, social entrepreneurial projects, etc. FDC Micro-Grants and Major Grants are usually one-time grants.
